    Day 1: Airport / Kandy
  • Airport to Kandy Travel Time Approx.: 03 - 04 HRS

  • Upon stepping your foot in the beautiful terrain of the Paradise Island, a respectful and polite chauffer will welcome and greet you at the Colombo International airport. The chauffer will be your buddy and guide for the rest of your stay in Sri Lanka. When all the formalities and greetings are done, you are ready to be escorted and delivered to a vehicle to start the tour.

    This great escape begins going to the Amaya Hills Hotel in Kandy which approximately runs for 3 to 4 hours. Upon arrival in the hotel, a traditional Sri Lankan way of welcoming will greet you in the forefront of the hotel. The staff are very accommodating and will assist you during the check-in and they will eventually carry your bags and luggage escorting you to your chosen room. Once things are set, time to get yourself rested for more days of adventures that await.

    Day 2: Kandy / Udawattakele / Kandy Sightseeing /Kandy
  • Hotel to Udawattakele Travel Time Approx.: 30 – 45 Mins

  • From the hotel, you will travel an approximately 30 to 45 minutes ride going to lavish and vibrant fauna and flora ecosystem at the Udawatta Kele Sanctuary. This is a shelter for a variety of animals 1,629 feet above sea level.

    It covers a wide and lush forest at the back of Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy with a very long history back to many centuries. Declared as Tahansikele or a forbidden forest by the Sinhala Kings after when Kandy became the capital city. The sanctuary was once a royal forest that no one was allowed to enter. Trees, creepers, lichen, and other plant forms are abundant inside the sanctuary.

    In the morning, when the mists are being wiped out of the pond in the center of the forest, the birds and frogs’ croak will disturb its calmness. Slowly, a monitor lizard swims while locking its eye on its prey in the water. Another one, disturbed by its movement, the blue kingfisher flashes across with its widespread wings when it failed to catch a fish.

    Udawattekele is the only forest from the entire world that is found bordering a city. As the city continued to expand for progress, the sanctuary is reduced up to what size it is now. The culture around the Kandy is very rich, tourists will experience the vibrance and richness of the surroundings of the Royal Capital. Kandy is a city of wonderful arts and crafts, beautiful music and dance that flourished under the patronage of the Kandyan Kings. It is a city of exciting shopping of authentic wood, copper, silver, brass, and bronze, and a lot more.

    Thewawa, a form of traditional blessings, is best experienced and witness at late afternoon around 6pm at the Temple of the Tooth. Temple of the Tooth Relic is in the royal palace complex where the relic of the tooth of Buddha. In history, the relic has an important role in the local politics. It is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the whole country. Kandy, a UNESCO world heritage site, was the last capital of the Sinhalese Kings.

    To cap off the Kandy experience, witness the traditional cultural show of the Kandyan dance shows. The dance show is a depiction of the movements of birds, animals, and costumes, worn by the dancers, are so vibrant with its colours. The Kandyan dancers are vital and important part of the Sri Lankan culture and heritage. After all the adventures and fun, you will be escorted back to the Amaya Hills for an overnight accommodation.

    Day 3: Kandy / Matale/ Dambulla
  • Kandy to Matale Travel Time Approx.: 01 – 01 ½ HRS.

  • At the hotel, you can savour the breakfast at the hotel. In the trip, you can visit the Peradineya Botanical Garden. It is very well known for the cultivation and display of a wide variety of botanical plants. Mounted in the hill of the capital of Sri Lanka, this garden brings with it rich history of colonialism and industrialization.

    Its status as a Botanical Garden was officially awarded during the British colonial period. There are a lot of things that awaits you and are the highlights of the garden. Home to 300 different varieties of orchids – the Orchid House, well maintained lawn, an avenue of tall Royal Palms, ferns, giant Burmese Bamboos, and variety of colorful and lovely blossoms.

    Individually, each has undeniable beauty and splendour, however, collectively it creates a magnificent paradise and wonderful landscape added with the blue waters of Mahaweli river flowing through its fringes.

    Travel approximately 1 and a half hours going to Matale and experience a once in a lifetime escape to its Spice Garden. Located in the central region of the island. This garden can offer wonderful opportunities to view and smell the spices that the whole world is seeking. Here, after your tour, you will be served with complimentary traditional Sri Lankan lunch served with fresh herbs and spices from the garden. After lunch, you will be escorted to a very relaxing and therapeutic massage. Afterwards, continue touring to Dambulla for approximately 2 hours and visit the Cave Temple commonly known as the “Golden Temple of Dambulla”.

    The Dambulla Cave Temple is a vast isolated rock mass where King Valagambahu took refuge on the 1st Century B.C. which then he later turned it into a rock temple. Among all the cave temples of Sri Lanka, Dambulla is the most impressive making is as a world heritage site. This cave is 2000sq meters of painted walls and ceilings, the largest in the world, found around 2000 years ago. The paintings are consisting of 150 images of Buddha, the largest of which is carved out of rock spanning 14 meters. After this day of a tour, you will be escorted to the hotel for an overnight accommodation at Amaya Lake.

     

    Day 4: Dambulla/ Sigriya / Minneriya / Dambulla
  • Dambulla to Sigiriya Travel Time Approx.: 30mins.

  • Savour the delicious early breakfast and then walk after the forest breadth. Appreciate nature within 90 minutes, see the nests hidden under the floating lotus leaves and be amazed of the gigantic Kumbuk Trees. Appreciate an overlooking view from the observation deck of birdlife across the reflecting waters from atop of the wooden stairways. Witness a number of beautiful butterflies flying inside the garden. All nature lovers will find a solitude and will have an awe in their eyes from the variation of colours of the petals. This once in a lifetime experience enriched guests’ love for nature.

    Hiriwadunna, another authentic village in Sri Lanka, this place will let you experience of how would likely be a local of the country. In Hiriwadunna, you will be welcomed and fed with the Sri Lankan women with authentic cuisines brought from genuine culinary techniques. From Dambulla going to Hiriwadunna, you will need to travel an approximate 45 minutes.

    Exploring the village will allow you to feel and be accustomed of how life was before, living along the mud thatched village huts, paddy fields, streams, rivers and other bodies of water. The banana plantation in the village is a must visit place. It also includes a visit to the scenic reservoir in Hiriwadunna where travellers can see the sights of the village from up above the treehouse from a lone tree.
