    Sri Lanka is a land rich in bio-diversity. It is also a land famous among food lovers due to the variety of food served at homes as well as hotels. Colorful, spicy, tasty food is unique to Sri Lanka.

     

    Rice and curry is the staple diet of Sri Lankans with mountainous plates of rice accompanied by five to six curries with contrasting textures and flavors. During special occasions, curries which are served at the table total up to 15 along with pickle, a delicacy among young elderly.

    Sinhalese prepare many curries, delicately flavored with lime, chilli, spices and spices. Sri Lankan Cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and cloves are the ingredients in fish and meat which add a rich aroma and taste. Creamy texture of many curries comes from the coconut milk that is extracted from coconut flesh.

    Customary ‘Sri Lankan rice and curry’ features on the menu everywhere in Sri Lanka with different varieties of flavor unique to different parts of the country. In many part of the country, murunga drumstick) leaves are added to prawn and crab curries to minimize cholesterol and also to overcome to add flavor.

    Curd is available in every part of the country with the flavor unique to each area. There are varieties of fruits depending on the season. There are also different varieties of banana as well as well as tasty pineapple.
